City to repair broken storm sirens
By JAMIE PATTERSON
It will cost the city about $3,000 to repair the broken weather sirens located within Yazoo City.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen discussed the costs behind repairing and maintaining the six sirens that are scattered throughout the city during its open board meeting Monday afternoon.
“All of the sirens around the city are not working,” said Mayor McArthur Straughter. “Technicians had to come in and run tests. The sirens then had to be sent back to the manufacturer.”
Many citizens voiced concern over the broken sirens, particularly during the recent severe weather. With no warning signals, many were left uneasy during the storms.
