It was genius, and nothing like it had ever happened in a Super Bowl. I was all settled down on the couch  when the Saints kicked an onside kick in Super Bowl XLIV. The crazy thing was, it worked!
The Saints were trailing the Colts 10-6, and they rolled on to score 24 unanswered points to win the organization’s first ever championship. Down in Jones County, the first thing  one would do after church in the fall, would be to turn on the TV to check on the Saints.
If you weren’t a Saints fan you were deemed an outcast. Of course you had the bandwagon fans. You know the type I’m talking about.
After the game a few friends loaded up in my Trailblazer, and we headed on down to the Big Easy. Needless to say, it was one big party, and it happened to be around Mardi Gras season.
We had a ball down in the Big Easy. I mean how can you not have a great time in New Orleans. While the Saints did win the game, I had the most fun walking down Bourbon Street, and having a beignets at Café Du Monde at 5 a.m.
Harbowl
The state of Mississippi will be represented well in Super Bowl XLVII between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. It will also be a brothers bowl, otherwise known as the Harbowl.
It will feature John Harbaugh of the Ravens, and his brother Jim Harbaugh of the 49ers. That should add an interesting element to the game.
Mississippi Ties
While all these players might not be from the Magnolia State. They will be representing their respective universities. Mississippi State and Ole Miss both have two players in the game while Belhaven will be represented in the Super Bowl this season.
For the San Francisco 49ers, Anthony Dixon- MSU, Patrick Willis-Ole Miss, and Tramaine Brock- Belhaven will be playing. For the Baltimore Ravens Michael Oher - Ole Miss and Pernell McPhee of MSU will be representing the respective schools.
Predictions
Well, one of the favorite things about the Super Bowl could be folks trying to guess the accurate score. Another fun thing about the Super is playing those squares, and hoping you don’t draw 4 or 6.
While I might be new to Yazoo, I got a hold of a few folks around town that have thrown their two cents in accurately predicting the correct score. .As of noon Friday, the San Francisco 49ers are favored -3.5 with the total at 47.5.
I know Colin Kaepernick will be tough to defend, but at the same time he has to get past McPhee, Ray Lewis, and then if he is lucky Ed Reed. I think it will be a high scoring affair, and I’m giving the edge to the Ravens beating the 49ers 32-24. We had 14 self proclaimed celebrities and coaches to help pick, and the 49ers edged the Ravens 8-6. Here is what they predicted.

Yazoo County coaches: Benard Euell (football) 21-14 Ravens and Michael Tardy (boys basketball) 27-24 Ravens.
Manchester Academy football coach Benny McClendon has the Ravens beating the 49ers 31-24.
