It was a battle of former Big 8 Conference members when Yazoo City took on Vicksburg Monday night at Indian Gymnasium. However, it was the Indians that swept the visiting Vicksburg Gators in prep basketball action Monday night with the Lady Indians winning 53-40, and the Indians upsetting #4 Vicksburg  Gators, according to Jackson’s Clarion Ledger.

Trailing 6-4 late in the opening quarter, a Clarence Johnson  bucket gave the Indians a 8-6 advantage to close out the quarter.
In the second, Edward Davis sent the Gators on a 8-0 run with 5:50 left in the half at 14-11. However, the Indians played strong team ball to regain the lead heading into halftime at 17-16.
