Carolyn Shipp didn’t even have a checking account when she first joined the Bank of Yazoo City 45 years ago.
“I was scared to death,” Shipp recalled. “I didn’t know anything about banking.”
The 19-year-old proved to be a fast learner, and she found a home at the Bank of Yazoo City. Shipp is retiring this week after a rewarding career in banking and community service.
“You don’t stay somewhere 45 years if you don’t really like it,” Shipp said. “I’ve had opportunities to leave for other positions before, but I wouldn’t do it. They’ve always treated us like family here, and we’ve had good leadership. There is nowhere else I would rather be.”
