Miss Townsend to wed Johnson on Aug. 14

Miss Erin Townsend and Curtis JohnsonMiss Erin Townsend and Curtis JohnsonMr. and Mrs. John Meeks of Yazoo City are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Erin Charisse Townsend, to Curtis Johnson, son of the late Doretha Johnson, also  of Yazoo City.
The bride elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gober Townsend Sr. of Yazoo City and Mrs. Jessie Bell Meeks and the late Mr. Plure Meeks also of Yazoo City.
Miss Townsend received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Alcorn State University and a Practical Nursing degree from Hinds Community College.  Miss Townsend is currently employed at Methodist Senior Services Martha Coker Green Homes as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Mr. Johnson is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Leach Sr. also of Yazoo City.  
Mr. Johnson received licensure in Barbering and an Associate of Arts degree in Drafting and Design Technology from Hinds Community College.
Mr. Johnson is currently self-employed as a Master Barber at CMC Barbershop in Yazoo City and People’s Beauty Barbershop in Belzoni.
The couple will be married in a double ring ceremony by Dr. Cesar Felton on August 14, 2010 at 5p.m. in Belzoni.
A reception will follow at Wister Gardens in Belzoni.

 
Letters to the editor

Dear Editor:
In the 6 April 2013 edition of The Yazoo Herald you published a letter from Cynthia Fuller, "Thanks to (Van) Foster for helping get bridge replaced."
After reading this lettter, I had the impression that the bridge was completed and traffic was moving along normally.  
Wrong!  Last Sunday I was on my way to homecoming at Providence Baptist Church.  I turned north onto old 49 and saw the signs that the bridge was out.  I assumed that they hadn't gotten around to removing the signs.  I expected to cross Thompson Creek on the new bridge.  When I approached the creek the road was barricaded and construction equipment was down in the creek.
Perhaps The Herald can keep us updated as to the progress being made on the new bridge.
