PSC seeks to improve collections process

By VERNON SIKES
Herald Correspondent

Following their expressions of concern in Tuesday's meeting, Yazoo City Public Service Commission (PSC) officials resolved to beef up their delinquent account collection techniques. One commissioner said she wasn't so much concerned with the past due amounts as with the number of days customers are allowed to stay in arrears.
“I'm not concerned about how high the bill is,” Commissioner Edna Rogers said. “I'm concerned about why they are 120 days (delinquent) and over. If you can't pay (your PSC bill after) one month or two months, how are you going to get the money at the end of four months or longer?”
