Indians fall to Callaway in JPS semifinals

By JOFFRE WASHINGTON
For the Herald

The Yazoo City Indians made an impressive statement in the JPS Christmas tournament last week going on a run that included an upset victory over No. 6 St. Martin and a revenge victory over Jim Hill before reaching the semifinals and falling 51-31 to the eventual champion Callaway Chargers.
The loss dropped the Indians to 11-7 overall and snapped a six-game winning streak for the Indians.
“We had a pretty good run in the tournament. The win over St. Martin was big. We just ran into a tough team in Callaway,” said YHS head coach Archie Carlyle. “But we’re starting to play pretty good right now. This is the time of year when we want to start putting it all together.”
