Special to The Herald
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 201 honored three veterans Mr. James Wilson, Mr. L. C. Young, and Mr. Roosevelt (Wolflake) Hudson on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at the Home of the American Legion Whitney, Woods-Pleasant Post 201 of Yazoo City. Juanita F. Lear, President, of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 201, said it’s an honor and a privilege to provide comfort items to our veterans who served our country; protecting American Citizens through their many challenges and fears.
Mr. James Wilson enlisted in the armed forces in 1946 serving our country until 1950. Upon returning home, he said it wasn’t very welcoming and felt he wasn’t appreciated for his time spent serving and protecting our country. A few years later, he was given employment with the Goyer Company. Later, Goyer sold to MS Supply Company; and he continued his employment until retiring in 1987. Mr. Wilson has been a member of the American Legion Whitney, Woods-Pleasant Post 201, of Yazoo City for 45 years; where he has served as Post Commander and other leadership positions.
Mr. L. C. Young enlisted in 1955 serving until retiring in 1975; protecting our country for 20 years. He has been a member for 35 years of the American Legion Whitney, Woods-Pleasant Post 201 of Yazoo City.
