12-year olds off to state

In what seemed like the longest Dixie Youth regional in recent memory, the Yazoo City 12-year olds are headed to the state championships.

The five-day tournament in Grove Park, which was delayed due to rain on Saturday finally ended Wednesday night as the all-stars defeated Canton 5-4. The victory awarded them the number one seed in this weekend’s tournament. Head coach Mitchell Saxton commended his boys for staying in the fight after playing for nearly a week.
