Archie Carlyle’s team wins battle of father vs. son

In a battle of father against son, Yazoo City head coach Archie Carlyle and his Indians were able to outlast his son Anthony's Velma Jackson Falcons, 36-31, this past Friday to improve to 7-6 on the season. The Falcons led 5-4 after one quarter of play, as both teams were still trying to figure each other out. The Indians outscored the Falcons 8-3 in the second quarter and led 12-8 at the half. Velma Jackson went on a 10-7 run over the course of the third quarter to make the score 19-18 Yazoo City at the end of three quarters, before the Indians posted a 17-13 final quarter to seal the win.

Leading scorers for the Indians were Benito Marshall with 11, Derrick Little with eight, LaDarius Drain with six, Clarence Johnson with four, Kenyon Jones with three, and Kiese Kirkland and Jared Grayer with two apiece.
