Despite several opportunities, the Yazoo City Indians found themselves on the short end of the stick Tuesday night, dropping a 33-31 decision to the visiting Jim Hill Tigers.
“We had our chances, but we just didn’t make smart decisions. We’ve still got to learn how to close out games,” said Yazoo City head coach Archie Carlyle about his team that is now 5-5 on the season.
After playing to a 13-13 tie in the first quarter, the Tigers took a one-point, 22-21, lead going into halftime. The tables turned in the third quarter when the Tigers scored seven points but held the Indians to just two to take a 29-23 lead into the final quarter. Yazoo City would outscore Jim Hill 8-4 in that quarter, but an ill-advised three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining and the Indians down one, proved to be a mistake the Indians could not recover from.
