JAMES BARRETT
James L. Barrett, 76, of Lexington died Dec. 4, 2012 at University Hospital.
Funeral services were Friday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Busby officiating. Burial followed at Green Lawn Cemetery in Vicksburg.
Mr. Barrett was born April 5, 1936 in Yazoo County to Dewitt and Ellem McClusky Barrett. He was a retired truck driver and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by a son, Troy Barrett; three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his son, Wayne Barrett of Marion, Ark.; two brothers, Paul Barrett and Jessie Barrett, both of Vicksburg; four sisters, Retha Tanner and Mary Stokes of Vicksburg, and Dorothy Barrett and Bertha Crist of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
ANNIE SUTTLAR
Annie Frances Washington Suttlar, 83, died Nov. 29, 2012.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Tulane M.B. Church with Rev. Gilbert E. Andrews officiating. Burial followed at Yazoo Memorial Park under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mrs. Suttlar was born Oct. 20, 1929 in Shelby County, Tenn. to Betty Harvey and Herman Washington. She was raised by her grandparents, Alice Knight Wallace and Ruben Jones in Yazoo City. She was a seamstress and a talented cook who published two cookbooks. She was a member of Tulane M.B. Church, where she sang in the choir and served as a member of the Mother Board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Suttlar Jr.; a sister, Mary Ethel; and a brother, Albert E. Jones.
Survivors include six children, Debra Evans of Memphis, Tenn., Annie F. Payton of Jackson, Herbert Suttlar III (Deborah) of Little Rock, Ark., Michael D. Suttlar (Remona) of Yazoo City, Karen E. Suttlar of Yazoo City, and Alice M. Suttlar of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were McArthur Straughter, Marcus Straughter, Albert Moorhead, Donte Smith, James T. Williams, Hubert Nelson, Cardell Robinson and Terrance Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers were Herbert Suttlar III, Michael D. Suttlar, Charles Evans, Michael D. Suttlar II, Curtis J. Carwell Jr., Quintin Carwell, John E. Wallace, Charles C. Wallace, Albert E. Jones Jr., Curley Parker, Alfort Davis and Louis Williams Jr.
