Yazoo City sweeps first tilt with Yazoo County

The Yazoo City Indians and Lady Indians posted rather easy wins over rival Yazoo County over the weekend with the Lady Indians taking a 51-37 win while the Indians were victorious by a score of 41-26.
The Lady Indians improved to 3-6 with the win while the Indians snapped a two-game losing skid to improve to 5-4 on the year.
The Lady Indians trailed the Lady Panthers 12-9 after one quarter of play and 19-18 at the half, but turned the game around in the second half after outscoring the Lady Panthers 22-5 in the third quarter to take a 40-24 lead into the fourth quarter. The Lady Panthers would outscore the Lady Indians 13-11 in the final frame but the Yazoo City lead proved to be insurmountable.
Leading the way for the Lady Indians were sisters Aliesha and Angela Hudson with 17 and 10 points respectively. Other scorers were Bracey Granderson with nine, Jonquil Dent with six, Aaliyah Diew with four, Tyasia Keith with three and Justin Gainwell with two. Aliesha Hudson also had a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Lady Panthers had two players reach double digits led by Caprice Coleman with 16 and Alice Thornton with 11. Ashaki Spencer added three while Sondya Hudson and Taluferia Clayton had two apiece and Desiree Scott rounded out the scoring with one.
