Home gardens are a common sight around Yazoo County this year, but one man’s crop merited a closer look from local law enforcement.
James Terrance Ivory, 33, of 3526 Carter Road is charged with manufacture of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after officers with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics discovered 17 marijuana plants near his home. The plants ranged from one to six feet tall.
Inside the mobile home they found more marijuana and six firearms.
Sheriff Thomas Vaughan said his department is working with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics to uncover marijuana fields throughout the county.
