Local DAR sends care package to veteran

The Yazoo Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently held its monthly meeting. The chapter prepared boxes for veterans during the meeting. The Yazoo Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution had their Nov. 15 meeting at the First Presbyterian Church after they had the laying of the wreath honoring veterans at the Yazoo County War Memorial.
JoAnne Collins, Yazoo Chapter Regent, conducted the meeting with the following giving reports: Sue Patterson-Minutes and Women’s Issues; Ava Hale-Treasurer and Conservation; Sarastelle Sigrest-National Defense; Priscilla Harper-President General and Rosalie; Gloria Adcock-Spirit Magazine and Box Tops for Education; Vay McGraw-membership.
The members packed a box to send to the group’s patriot in Afghanistan filled with Christmas cards, phone cards, candy, cookies and crossword puzzle books.
Sue Patterson, retired from the Air Force, gave a short program about her time in the Air Force.
The next meeting will be held on Dec. 13 at 11:30 a.m. in the country home of Sarastelle Sigrest.
The hostesses were Marsha Williams and Snooky Hogue.
