Manchester Academy made local history this week with the first boys high school soccer game to be played in Yazoo County.
The Mavericks celebrated the occasion in style with a 1-0 victory over Hillcrest Monday.
MA headmaster Bryan Dendy said soccer has become increasingly popular.
“Our girls program has been successful, and we had a lot of interest in adding a boys program,” Dendy said. “We found a great coach to lead the program, and we’re proud to have him aboard.”
Phillip Buffington brings a wealth of experience to the Manchester soccer program.
