The residents of the Linwood community in Vaughan with help from surrounding counties participated in their first breast cancer walk on Oct. 27.
Participants walked from the Mt. Zion M.B. Church to the Vaughan Volunteer Fire Department.
There were a total of 45 participants who walked for the cure. Among those walkers was one breast cancer survivor, Mrs. Teretha Almore of Vaughan.
Nine of the 45 participants completed the entire walk back to their parked cars, about 6.4 miles.
The community plans to give all the proceeds that were raised to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and to also make this an annual event for the community of Vaughan.
