If Deer Creek was expecting the same team they defeated 28-12 during the regular season, the Warriors had another thing coming.
Benton Academy defeated Deer Creek 48-14 Friday to advance the North State championship game. The Raiders have a chance to avenge another regular season loss, but this time the challenge will be much greater as Benton travels to Flora to take on undefeated Tri-County.
“I feel good about it,” Raiders head coach Wayman Grantham said about this week’s game. “As far as we’re concerned, every team left in the playoffs is 2-0.”
Kent Manor had 22 carries for 216 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Raiders to victory.
“Kent just keeps getting better every week,” Grantham said.
Quarterback Dalton Burton averaged 10 yards per carry on three rushes and added a pair of touchdowns.
But the performance of the night belonged to Jason Berry, who led the defense with 12, tackles, two sacks and a pass deflection and recovered a fumble for a 74-yard touchdown.
