Can anybody beat Tri-County?
Twelve games into the season, the answer has been a firm “no.”
No team has really come close. Manchester Academy’s 12-9 loss to TCA was the Rebels’ closest challenge so far this season.
The defending state champions easily chalked up a second round playoff victory Friday with a 41-6 win over Winona Christian.
Tri-County took a 28-0 lead in the first quarter.
Ryan Cothern scored on a 72-yard run for a 7-0 lead with Tucker Millican’s extra point kick.
Tanner Malone scored on a 10-yard blocked punt return to make it 13-0.
Quarterback Trey Bozeman scored on a 22-yard keeper and connected with tight end Blake Endris for a two-point conversion pass. Bozeman then completed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Cothern to give TCA a commanding first quarter lead.
Bozeman scored on a nine-yard rush in the second quarter.
Hayes Shepherd put the finishing touches on the victory with a two-yard touchdown run.
