From delivering mail on a route to supervising the entire operation, Tricia Porter has worn every hat at the Yazoo Post Office.
And now she can add postmaster to her list of many duties.
“I received the phone call in May 2010 that I was the new postmaster,” Porter said. “It was also on the same day of my 12th wedding anniversary so that made it even more special.”
Porter, a Tinsley native, smiles when she talks about her time at the local post office. She is a familiar face at the central office, and she is a face that will remain there for as long as she can.
“I had a lady come in and tell me that it is going to be nice to have a postmaster who is going to stay here,” Porter said.
Porter could have transferred to other stations or looked for other opportunities, but she knew she belonged in her hometown. And she honestly believes having that local pride is what makes her job all the more better.
