Yazoo County came out a little slow, but it didn’t take the Panthers long to get down to business in a 35-14 victory over North Pontotoc in the first round of the playoffs.
Panthers quarterback Michael Collum delivered another stellar performance, rushing nine times for 166 yards and a 96-yard touchdown and completing 5-of-9 passes for 96 yards.
Gerald Lampkin added 10 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown while Aaron Hudson had eight carries for 84 yards and a score.
Panthers head coach Bernard Euell said he was proud of his team’s aggressive attack.
“At this stage you have to be able to run the football,” Euell said. “We knew going in that this was going to be a very physical game, and our guys delivered what we asked of them.”
