A fund has been established to help a Yazoo County native cope with expenses following the murder of  her 5-year-old son.
Gary DeToma Jr., son of Yazoo native Melanie Roberts DeToma, was found dead in his father’s apartment last week. He appeared to have been strangled.
Gary DeToma Sr. is charged with the murder. He was also charged with aggravated assault because police suspect he also attempted to strangle his four-year-old son. DeToma’s preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 12.
The DeTomas were divorcing after six years of marriage and working out a custody agreement.
