Third tima a charm for MA soccer
Manchester head soccer coach Mike MorrisMike Morris spends many summer afternoons wearing a mask calling balls and strikes for little league baseball and softball. But for the last two years, he has transformed the Manchester girls soccer program into a potential playoff contender.
Morris is the most successful coach in the school’s history compiling an 11-9 record since 2008; not bad for a former high school football coach. In his first weeks on the job, he shadowed his daughter Kristen’s club coach for the Mississippi Brilla and from there he learned the basics of the game.
“I’ve coached high school football, pee-wee football and basketball; all boys,” Morris said. “To come out here with these girls it’s just been different, but it’s been great.” He added the biggest difference is that in his opinion, is that girls are much more dedicated to the cause.
