The Yazoo City Indians traveled to Ridgeland last Friday night to face the Ridgeland Titans in hopes of securing another district victory to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Titans, however, proved to be too formidable a foe for the Indians, as they handed Yazoo City its fourth division loss of the season in a 21-0 defeat.
The loss dropped the Indians to 4-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play and virtually eliminated them from playoff consideration.
Ridgeland scored all three of their touchdowns in the first half, the first coming courtesy of a one-yard run by quarterback Parker Logan. The PAT kick was good and the Titans led 7-0 with 7:36 to play in the first quarter.
After Yazoo City’s next possession ended in another punt, the Titans took over and went on a seven-play drive that ended with a four-yard Gary Adams touchdown run to give Ridgeland a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
