Yazoo County football’s recent emergence of success on the high school level might be explained by the success the school is having on a lower level.
The Panthers' junior high team finished their season this past Tuesday by defeating Durant 46-6 and completing the season with a perfect 9-0 season record and district champions.
"We worked really hard over the summer," said junior high coach Larry Gibson. "We have some really good skilled positions that I'm really excited about.”
The Panthers averaged 40 points a game on the offensive side of the ball, making games a nightmare for opposing teams defense. The junior high team was aided by not only having a stout running game but also being able to pass the ball when needed, another characteristic of the team that plays on Friday nights on the same field.
