For the Herald

Homecoming night is always a night filled with fun, excitement and anticipation and this past Friday night was no exception at Yazoo City High School.
With the crowd already on pins and needles waiting to see who would be named Homecoming Queen, the Indians removed any doubt as to who would win the contest on the football field, scoring 26 first half points en route to a 41-8 blowout victory over division rival Lanier.
With the win, Yazoo City improved to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in league play. The Bulldogs fell to 0-8 and remained winless in the conference.
The Indians first score came near the end of the first quarter when senior running back Tre Richardson raced 46 yards for a score and a 6-0 lead. Yazoo City would score on their next three possessions – a one-yard Richardson run, a 23-yard pass to Chris Smith from Darrius Wright and a one-yard Wright run – to put the game virtually out of reach (26-0) at halftime.
