Homecoming games are always a special time for the host school.
But they can also be a coach’s worst nightmare because there are so many distractions throughout the week.
Yazoo County found out just that Friday night getting beat by conference opponent Humphreys County (3-6) by a score of 30-22.
Humphreys held off a furious Panthers rally to hold on to the lead.
Late in the game, the Cowboys took over at the Panthers' 20 yard line after a special teams breakdown that led to a late score.
"They came to play and we didn't," Yazoo County head coach Bernard Euell said. "Our kids got caught, it was a mental breakdown."
This isn't the first time the Panthers have had to fight back after a demoralizing loss, the first being the first game of the year against Florence.
