ETHEL ANDERSON

Ethel Blanche Tisdale Anderson died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at home after a lengthy illness.  
Funeral services were Friday at First Baptist Church, Grand Avenue with Rev. David Bryant officiating. Burial followed at Roseland Cemetery in Hattiesburg under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Anderson was born Dec. 23, 1924 in Jones County to Marvin B. Tisdale and Ethel L. Bryant. She graduated from Rainey Community High School and attended Droans Business School in New Orleans, La.  
She was married July 18, 1942 to Glenward W. Anderson, also from Jones County.  During WWII, Mrs. Anderson was employed as a telephone operator in Hattiesburg. In 1947 Mr. and Mrs. Anderson moved to Yazoo City. Mrs. Anderson worked as an operator for Western Union before entering into the Jewelry Business founded by Glen Anderson. Anderson’s Jewelry, a fixture on Main Street, has been a family focus for over 60 years.  Mrs. Anderson was active in Jaycettes, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Downtown Merchants Association, MS Retail Jewelers Association, Independent Jewelers Association, and First Baptist Church.  She loved crochet, sewing, cooking and Bridge. She and her husband traveled  all over the World in connection with their Jewelry Business.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Anderson on April 22, 2010 after 67 years of marriage.  
Survivors include her her son, Ted Anderson and Melinda Smith Anderson of Raymond and Petal; daughter, Ava Anderson Hale and Thomas F. Hale, Jr. of Yazoo City; son, John M. Anderson and Pat Bentley Anderson of Yazoo City; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
The family wishes to extend grateful thanks to Angie Luckett, supervisor of caregivers and the staff who lovingly took care of the daily needs of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson for over 7 years in their home. A special Thanks to Continued Care Home Health and Dr. Marion Sigrest and staff.
Memorials may be made to French Camp or Alzheimer Foundation.

MARTHA FRAZIER

Martha P. Frazier, 75, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo.
Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Duggan officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Frazier was born Aug. 8, 1934 in Water Valley to J.W. and Myrtle Stribling Peacock. She was a retired manager for City Finance Company and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee Frazier; parents, J.W. and Myrtle Peacock; and her stepfather, Guy Moore.
Survivors include a son, Michael Frazier of Yazoo City; two daughters, Pattie Miller of Pontotoc and Debbie Clark of Horn Lake; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are A.G. Helton, Michael Frazier Jr., Cecil Martin, Kevin Helton, Hayes Gregory and Nelson Tate.

FANNIE MYERS

Fannie Mae Myers, 72, died Sunday, July 4, 2010.
Funeral services Saturday at New Pilgrim Rust Baptist Church with Rev. Clifton Wright officiating. Burial followed at Cypress Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mrs. Myers was born Jan. 18, 1938 in Benton to Sallie Mae Little and Freddie Hooker. She attended school at Balton Temple in Benton and later lived in Wisconsin. She married Douglas Myers in Florida and later returned to Yazoo to work as a caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a stepfather, Henry Tucker.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine T. Barnes (Walter) and Earlean H. Alexander (Micheal), both of Yazoo City; seven grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were L.J. Smith, Reginald Hill, Keith Williams, J. Patrick Boddy, Fred Jones and Reginald Little.
Honorary pallbearers were Jessie Thomas, Henry Thomas, James Little, Micheal Alexander, Walter Goss Jr. and Larry Little.
