Local DAR chapter holds its first meeting of the new year

The Yazoo Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its first meeting of the 2012-2013 year in the home of Gloria Adcock on September 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. The meeting was the occasion of the Annual Meeting of Yazoo Chapter.
The meeting was conducted by JoAnne G. Collins Yazoo Chapter Regent.
Following the Ritual, Pledge of Allegiance, American’s Creed and the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, the business meeting was held.  Dues were paid, and the 2012-2013 yearbooks were passed out to the members. Ava Hale, Chairman of the Yearbooks, was thanked for getting them ready to be printed .  
Items discussed were the Fall Pilgrimage held in Natchez September 27-Oct. 14; Rosalie Candlelight and Rosalie Day at the MSSDAR owned Rosalie Mansion in Natchez on Oct. 16-17; and the Girl Scouts of the USA 100th Anniversary event planned for Oct. 7.
Priscilla Harper presented a program on the National DAR Congress held in Washington, D.C., where MSSDAR State Regent Janet Looney Whittington represented Mississippi. This was followed by refreshments provided by the hostesses Gloria Adcock, Janet Looney Whittington and Sharon Smith.
The next meeting will be held on Oct. 18, 2012 in the home of Montine Bond at 2p.m. Members are asked to bring items for a female and male in the military serving overseas. Boxes will be packed and sent to these Patriots.
Members are also encouraged to bring labels for education which are sent to the Kate Duncan Smith DAR supported school for school supplies.
