A week after capturing a state softball championship the honors continue to roll in for Benton Academy’s Lady Raiders.
Senior Nora Grace Davis was named the most valuable player of District 4 and earned a spot in the All-Star Game. She will compete today at Jackson Prep at 4:30 p.m.
In 110 plate appearances Davis had 18 singles, 10 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 22 walks, while only striking out 19 times for a .410 batting average.
Jenny Reynolds was named the District 4 Defensive Player of the Year.
Reynolds faced 833 batters during the season, striking out 196 while only giving up 50 walks and 115 hits.
“I consider her to be the best pitcher in the state,” said Coach Vince Davis.
Both Davis and Reynolds were unanimously selected by every coach in the district for their honors.
Tristen Beith, Lexie Guion, Nora Grace Davis and Jenny Reynolds were all named All-Conference.
Coach Davis said Beith provided solid play behind the plate all season long.
“I consider her the best catcher in the state, maybe the world,” Davis said.
