School computer thieves caught

Thanks to a tip, police officers were able to recover several stolen computers from Woolfolk Middle School this week.
Two men were also arrested in connection with the stolen goods.
Jeremie Porter and Bryan Lewis were both charged with possession of stolen property.
“Woolfolk Middle School was broken into last Wednesday,” Cpt. Larry Davis said. “We received a tip that the computers were being kept in an abandoned house on Sixth Street.”
Davis said officers went to the house and obtained permission from the caretaker to search the premises. It was inside that they found the stolen computers.
“Jeremie Porter used to live in the house,” Davis said. “Porter and Lewis were both in the house next door.”
Davis said the department also received tips that both Porter and Lewis were involved in the burglary.
Both men were arrested next door to the abandoned house.
“Some of the computers we found belonged to the school,” Davis said. “Some also belonged to the owner of a car that was broken into last May.”
Davis said Lewis had been in trouble with the law before, as well as Porter with statutory rape charges.
