City seeks to preserve fire rating

Yazoo City has two years to bring its fire protection up to the state’s requested requirements or it could lose its current fire rating.
The Mississippi State Rating Bureau recently visited with the Yazoo City Fire Department to review the city’s fire insurance grading classification.
“I thought they would send us out the door, but they didn’t,” said Mayor McArthur Straughter, during the Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting this week.
