Drivers ignoring the speed limit signs on Jerry Clower Boulevard may want to think twice after this week.
Chief Eric Snow said he has dispatched a special five-man unit to specifically handle speeders on the busy roadway after numerous complaints and accidents.
“These guys are going after the big trucks and regular vehicles that are speeding,” Snow said. “We have had to do this due to the recent complaints.”
There have been numerous complaints about drivers racing down Jerry Clower Boulevard, running red lights and ignoring other traffic laws. The majority of the complaints have involved 18-wheelers, many which are paid by the load.
But Snow said his crew isn’t targeting anyone. They want all speeders to think twice before barreling down the busy street.
“I brought these guys in and told them that their main concern was slowing down the trucks and other vehicles,” Snow said.
