Lady Indians are ready for the playoffs
Yazoo City High School’s Lady Indians will host Saltillo in the opening rounds of the softball playoffs on Oct 9. By JOFFRE WASHINGTON
For the Herald
With two games remaining in the regular season, Yazoo City head softball coach Gerald Peyton has his Lady Indians' sights focussed on a goal they have had since the beginning of the season: the playoffs.
Yazoo City played Germantown this past Thursday and ends the regular season next week against Warren Central. The Lady Indians (10-7 overall, 9-1 district) rounded out district play last week with a pair of wins - 17-1 over Canton and 18-0 over Provine - to tie with Ridgeland for the top spot in the district. Unfortunately, they will have to settle for the 2nd seed after splitting the season series with Ridgeland forced a tie-breaker rule to go into effect, which the Lady Titans won by virtue of them allowing fewer runs in district play than did the Lady Indians.
