Yazoo City loses a tough one at Neshoba, 18-12

By JOFFRE WASHINGTON
For the Herald

The Yazoo City Indians entered last Friday’s game against the Neshoba Central Rockets with hopes of snapping a two game losing skid and starting their slate of division games off on the right foot. Through the first 24 minutes it appeared as though the Indians had the Neshoba’s number. The Rockets, however, bounced back from a 12-0 first half deficit to squeak out an 18-12 victory and improve to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in district play. The Indians fell to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
The Indians opened the game in grand fashion, scoring on their opening possession on a 10-play drive that was highlighted by a 40 yard halfback pass from Terrandon Morris to Chris Smith on the game’s first play from scrimmage. The Indians marched down the field and took a 6-0 lead when quarterback Darrius Wright raced around the left end for a score at the 6:41 mark of the first quarter.
