Kent Manor scored a pair of touchdowns to give Benton Academy a 12-6 halftime lead, but the Raiders were unable to hold off a second half comeback by Deer Creek.
The Warriors scored 22 unanswered points in the second half on the way to a 28-12 nonconference victory.
“They just lined up and outplayed us in the second half,” said Raiders head coach Wayman Grantham. “We moved the football well throughout the game, but we were unable to score in the second half.”
Benton had a touchdown called back for a penalty and a missed field goal in the fourth quarter.
“This was one of those games that just wasn’t meant to be,” Grantham said. “We’ve got to put it behind us because this is a busy week.
This week is homecoming at Benton Academy as the Raiders get set to host Porter’s Chapel.
Porter’s Chapel (2-2) enters the contest fresh off of a 46-0 blowout win over Park Place Christian.
