Local guitar-playing legend Guitar Lamar dies at age 56

Type the name Lamar Warmack into an Internet telephone directory, and you’ll learn that there’s only one person listed under that name in the entire United States.
That wouldn't come as a surprise to most who knew him because there was no one else like him in the world.
Warmack, who became a self-employed surveyor after working with the Public Service Commission for many years, was known by many around Yazoo County for his professional work.
But he was best known as Guitar Lamar, a local music legend.
Warmack died Friday at age 56, after battling liver disease.
Guitar Lamar was famous for his fiery guitar performances, where he often fell to his knees or on his back in the middle of a solo without missing a note. With his head shaking and waving his guitar around like a madman, Warmack's onstage antics were almost as lively as the notes coming from his guitar. It didn't matter if he was performing with his band, joining someone else's band on stage for a song or two or playing at a deer camp out in the middle of nowhere, Warmack was equally intense when he tuned up his guitar.
