The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has presented the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department with a vehicle to assist in the county’s battle against litter.
MDOT representatives presented Sheriff Jake Sheriff with the Yazoo County Sheriff Department with a truck and trailer for use in the MDOT Inmate Litter Removal Program.
MDOT provides a programed vehicle to counties who have demonstrated the support of the litter removal program when a vehicle becomes available.
The presentation was provided by MDOT and the Keep Mississippi Beautiful organization and partners.
“The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department has demonstrated tremendous support for the litter removal program,” said MDOT Central District Transportation Commissioner Dick Hall. “We applaud the work of this law enforcement agency and the leadership provided by Sheriff Jake Sheriff. Working together we can keep Mississippi beautiful.”
As MDOT and KMB continue to work together to eliminate litter from state highways, it is partnerships like this one with Yazoo County Sheriff Department and other local and state officials that help to enforce litter laws and remove litter from our state.
