When Suresh Chawla first laid eyes on the vacant field in Yazoo City, he thought the folks trying to get him to see the possibilities might be crazy.
He’ll welcome guests to that very field for a celebration of the grand opening of the most upscale hotel Yazoo City has ever seen.
Yazoo residents are invited to take a first look at the new Hampton Inn on Tuesday, July 20 with a ribbon cutting at 9 a.m. followed by a tour of the property.
The new hotel represents over 20 new jobs and is a sign of many good things that are expected to come upon completion of the Willie Morris Parkway, a landscaped parkway from Jerry Clower Boulevard to Miss. Highway 3 that state and local economic leaders see as the future of development in Yazoo City.
“This is not just a hotel opening,” Chawla said. “This is the start of something very special. I really believe the economic future of this community depends on the success of this parkway.”
In addition to having an ideal location for a new hotel, the Chawlas also saw an opportunity to bring something new to Yazoo.
