Child rapist sentenced to 120 years in prison

SimsSimsBy JAMIE PATTERSON
Managing Editor

A Yazoo City predatory child rapist was convicted last week and was sentenced to 120 years in prison.
Julian D. Sims, 28, of 911 E. Fifth St., was convicted Friday on gratification of lust, kidnapping, statutory rape and sexual battery charges.
Akillie Malone Oliver, district attorney for Yazoo, Holmes and Humphreys County, said Sims’ conviction reaffirms her stand to seek justice for all crime victims, especially the young and helpless.
The sentence was handed down by Judge Jannie Lewis after a three-day jury trial and a unanimous jury vote of guilty to each of the four charges in the indictment. Sims was also sentenced as a habitual offender.
