Tax increases are in store for both city and county residents under current budget proposals.
Citizens will have an opportunity to comment on those plans during the first week of September.
Yazoo County plans to increase the ad valorem tax millage rate by 2.9 mills with an additional increase of .88 mills for the Yazoo County School District for a total of 3.78 mills.
The county currently operates on a budget with a projected revenue of $14,246,683 with 63.48 percent (9,750,940) of that revenue coming from ad valorem taxes. For the next fiscal year, Yazoo County has proposed a budget with projected revenue of $15,016,038. Of that amount, 64.93 percent ($9,750,940) would come from ad valorem taxes. (More details are available on page 14).
