Yazoo County students participate in summer gifted studies program

Two students from Yazoo County participated in the Summer Gifted Studies Program at The University of Southern Mississippi on June 17-22 on the Hattiesburg campus.
It is presented by the Frances Karnes Center for Gifted Studies.
Local students included:
• Shakeem Sawyer, a student at Linwood Elementary, is the son of Carolyn Anderson and Leroy Sawyer.
• Tyler Kincaid, a student at Woolfolk Middle School, is the son of Latasha Hayes and Marcus Kincaid.
The Summer Gifted Studies Program is designed to enhance cognitive, affective and psychomotor abilities of gifted students through planned enrichment/acceleration activities. Emphasis is placed on individual participation in areas that provide in-depth analysis of specific topics of interest. It also includes opportunities to participate in leisure and cultural activities with other gifted youth.
