Manchester Academy began the 2012 season with a bang as the Mavericks steamrolled Hillcrest Christian 27-0.
MA’s defense was dominant, holding Hillcrest to just 19 total yards of offense in the shutout.
The Mavericks also utilized a strong ground attack offensively, with Russ Allen scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns and Seth Hutton adding one.
“I was very pleased with the performance of our defense,” said Mavericks head coach Benny McClendon. “Our offense put up some good numbers, but we still have a lot of room for improvement. We have to work on our passing game and just hitting the holes when we run the ball.”
