Residents say black mold still infests Shady Lane apartments

The Yazoo Herald first investigated allegations of a black mold problem at Shady Lane apartments about a year ago.
Some residents say the problem was never corrected and local city and county officials say it has gotten worse.
Ward 4 Alderman Aubry Brent Jr. sparked the discussion last week when he said several residents of the apartment complex contacted him about their concerns. The Shady Lane area is surrounded by his ward but is in Yazoo County, falling under  Supervisor Cobie Collins’ district.
Both Brent and Collins are tackling the issues residents have raised concerning the mold and new management.
