Mrs. Caroline Fields Griffin turned 102 years old on Aug. 10.
For her birthday, she had a surprise visit by Yazoo County Sheriff Jake Sheriff and Yazoo County Justice Court Judge Bennie K. Warrington.
Mrs. Fields told them it was the first time she has ever met the sheriff and the judge in her life. She also told them she doesn’t get out that much and it was nice for them to come down and surprise her.  She just smiled and told them she was so glad they took time out their busy jobs to visit her.
She told the two officials that she stays close to home and minds her own business.
“That’s the best way to stay out of trouble,” she said, with a laugh.
Mrs. Caroline has one daughter, Pearlie M. Odom, who is also her caretaker. She has five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Her past time is watching the Atlanta Braves, chewing bubble gum and listening to the blues, especially Bobby Rush.
She will have a party on Aug. 18 at her home. The public is welcome.
