HAROLD HAMMETT
Harold Dodd Hammett, 74, of Lexington ended his battle with cancer and peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 13, 2012.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Lexington with burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington.
Mr. Hammett was born in Lexington on June 2, 1938. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolph and Virgie Hammett. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and a wonderful storyteller. For over 30 years he was a Mid-West and Borden sales representative in Holmes County.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rosemary Frost Hammett; daughters, Sherry Hammett, Karen (Mike) Harthcock, both of Brandon, Dayna (Eddie) Nelson of Yazoo City and Terri (Hayes) O'Reilly of Ebenezer; brothers, Richard (Chris) and Robert (Terrell) Hammett, both of Lexington; sisters, Ruth Murtagh of Pickens, Libby Dittmar of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Flossie Goode of Madison, Brenda (Thomas) Adams of Brandon, Sheila Hammett, Notie (Mike) Turner of Greenwood, Dell Tubbs of Brandon and Tammy (Myron) Courts of Lexington; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

OBIE STEED
Obie D. Steed, 87, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Daryl Oster officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Steed was born April 11, 1925 in Shaw to Clarence and Maymie Boyd Steed. He was a truck driver for Airco Inc. and a member of Center Ridge Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Ivers Steed; and a grandson, Clint Hood.
Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Nuckells of Rolling Fork, Tori Moore of Dallas, Texas and Kathi Thompson of Tupelo; two sons, William Harley Hood of Bentonia and Dewey C. Hood of Yazoo City; two sisters, Hilda Starnes of Ruleville and Jean Morris of Olive Branch; three grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
ROY WOODS
Roy Woods, 62, died Aug. 3, 2012.
Funeral services were Saturday at Mount Vernon M.B. Church with Rev. Steve Dennis officiating. Burial followed at Cypress Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Woods was born Aug. 26, 1949 in Yazoo City to the late Earnestine Woods and Josh Alexander. He was employed with Warren Yazoo Mental Health Services and a member of Lintonia Seven Day Adventist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Elijah, James and L.W. Woods; and one sister, Rosie Woods.
Survivors include a sister, Doris Davis (Nick) of Chicago; a brother, Jack Woods of Yazoo City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Lonnie Woods, Michael Reynolds, Tony Reynolds, Keith Meeks, Dave Robinson and Freddie Reynolds.
Honorary pallbearers were Vidal Woods, Derrius Woods, Sedrick Love, Joshua Woods, Joe Reynolds and Jack Woods.
