A lack of rainfall has taken a toll on many gardens around Yazoo County, but one local crop was doing great until the Sheriff’s Department found it Tuesday.
Sheriff Thomas Vaughan and his deputies removed 25 marijuana plants ranging from 11-14 feet tall from a wooded area on the east side of the county Tuesday afternoon. The total value of the plants is estimated at $25,000.
Vaughan said his office received a tip that there was marijuana being grown in the area, and they sought the assistance of the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
