Bethel M.B. Church is built on solid ground.
From the physical structure of the church to the bond from its congregation within its walls, Bethel has stood firm and proud for the past 153 years.
Bethel will celebrate its 153rd birthday Sunday with a ceremony at 3 p.m.
Remaining on the same site from its birth, the church has become a center of love and fellowship within the Carter community. Surviving three disasters, the congregation has picked itself up each time and grew stronger with each reconstruction.
“I can’t help but think of the blessing of Job,” said Rev. C. M. Miller. “The second state was better than the first state.”
That same optimism and hope can be found with other church members, both young and old. There is a rich history with Bethel, and its members are striving to build on that legacy for future generations.
