Thieves steal meat from Ubon’s restaurant

Some local business owners were not in a celebratory mood on the Fourth of July holiday when they discovered their restaurant had been burglarized the night before.
Ubon’s owners discovered that someone had stolen hundreds of dollars worth of meat after they closed for the evening.
Leslie Scott said twenty slabs of ribs and three and a half briskets were stolen.
Scott said it’s hard enough to operate a small business in the current economy, but Ubon’s has had to deal with theft as well.
“This is the third time that someone has broken in and stolen food from us,” Scott said. “It seems like when we figure out how they got in, and how to stop them, they figure out another way.”
Scott said neighboring businesses on their block off of Jerry Clower Boulevard have also experienced problems. She said that sometimes groups loiter in the area after the businesses close.
“We hope that someone will report this,” Scott said.
The Yazoo City Police Department is investigating the case. No arrests had been made by press time Thursday.
Crimestoppers will pay a reward for information leading to an arrest. To report a tip anonymously, call 746-TIPS.
