Police officer Chris M. Williams recently completed his training at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in Pearl.
His training began on April 16 and was completed on June 21, which was also his birthday.
Williams is a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Yazoo City with Pastor Jermone E. Posey Sr.
He was a 2009 graduate of Yazoo City High School, where he played football and basketball. He also attended Holmes Community College in Goodman, where he received a two-year certification in automotive technology in 2011. He was also on the President’s List.  
Williams is the son of Harvey Jr. and Linda Williams of Yazoo City. His maternal grandparents are the late Mrs. Molier Granderson Hudson and Ben Hudson of Yazoo City.  His paternal grandparents are Harvey Williams Sr. and the late Mrs. Nattie Mae Barnes Williams.  
Williams was hired at the Yazoo City Police Department. After several weeks of on the job training, his training continued at (MLEOTA) in Pearl.  
He was chosen platoon leader of four squads, which consisted of 46 officers. Four other police officers from Yazoo City also graduated – LeTondra Brookins, John Simmons,  Demarcus Taylor and Terrence Williams.  
During the ceremony for the basic class #238, Williams gave the class speech and presentation of the class plaque, which was presented to the director Pat Cronin. Several of his superior officers were amazed with his performance.  
He scored a 90 percent on his academic test with an expert score of 96.4 percent on his qualification for firing arms.
